3.0 Journal Entry Import

This article will cover the Import feature inside of Journal Entry that would allow a user to import an excel file with GL Transactions that can be imported into a Journal Entry.  

  1. Use the attached Journal Entry Import example file to populate the Account Numbers, Amounts, Descriptions other information that can be entered on a Journal Entry.  Save that file on your local machine so you can access when running Softbase.  You can leave the Headers in the file.  
  2. Open up the Journal Entry Window in Softbase from the Accounting Tab.  
  3. Create a new Journal Entry by assigning the next Journal Number or manually entering.  Assign the Effective Date for the period you want the posting to be in and the choose Add to create the Journal Entry Header.  
  4. Select the Import Button from the Journal Entry Window
  5. Choose the 1st option in the Dropdown that comes up if you do not want to add a .0 after the Account Number in the Import File you are importing.  If you do want to add a .0 or .00 choose one of those option.  Select OK when ready.  
  6. Choose the location of the Journal Entry Import file you created in step 1 from the Select File window and click Open.  
  7. Once you have opened that file it will be imported into Softbase and you will see the imported lines in the Journal Entry Window data grid.  
  8. If any value you imported is not seen as valid by Softbase it will highlight that value in red in the data grid and you can select that field to edit the value.  
  9. When ready and you have a balanced transaction select the Post button from the Journal Entry Window.
