How to Use OData with Excel

Modified on Fri, 9 Jan at 10:58 AM

You will need to have the url for the Softbase Connect API

It should look something like :

https://sbconnect.softbasesystems.com/(your company name)connect

Then to the URL you will add the information in the highlighted section:

https://sbconnect.softbasesystems.com/(your company name)connect/dataaccess/( name of the data access point you would like to view )

Ie: GL, Part, WO, WOLabor

Then you will need to open Excel and do the following:

Data - from the menu options at the top of your screen

Get Data

From Other Sources

From OData Feed

Paste the link including the data source into the field when prompted

Select OK and you may be prompted to login with another window

You will choose Basic from the Side Menu Bar

Enter in your Evolution Username and Password

In the drop down menu for the URL choose the one with /dataaccess at the end

After entering the credentials select Ok and then a window will appear showing a preview of the data

Select Load/Import and you will get all data for the table

**NOTE** - if when you are previewing the data or select a data point and get an Access Forbidden error message - this indicates that the role assigned to your user in Evolution does not have sufficient permission to access that data point. Please discuss with your internal IT and Admin team regarding your role and permissions as needed.
