Lead: 

Information about a company or person that would possibly be interested in buying from a dealer. These can be gathered from websites and other marketing sources. They need to be qualified (validated that they would be buyers of the product) before they would be considered a Prospect.   

Account:

A Company who is a Prospect or Customer of the dealer. An account has to have the vital information. Name, Address, Type, Contact Information. 

Contact:

A person that is associated (works at, owns, etc.) at a Lead or an Account 

Opportunity:

This is a record of a potential transaction (sale) to an Account. Deals can not be associated with a Lead because if there is a potential sale to that company they should be moved to Prospect status. 

Activity:

This is a record of an activity associated with a Lead, Account, Opportunity, or Contact. Examples of a Activity are Notes, Meetings, Emails.
